Snowflake
Slowly reaches to the ground
White dust all around
Chilled to the bone
Now longing to go home.....home...home.....

January 2008 Norther Minnesota

What can I say about Northern Minnesota.... cold & cold & cold of course COLD....I am trying to be original here. Well it sure was neat to see crazy people out in the freezing cold doing weird things like snoshoeing, skiing, dogsledding. Oh wait, I was one of those crazy folks. Regardless it was awesome. I felt most ALIVE when flying down a hill on a dogsled. I LOVED the beautiful quiet scenic views of the Northshore of Lake Superior and the white tipped forestry surrounding. I LEARNT to never take your hat off while out in that furry white stuff...DOH!!! Homer Simpson moment. The snow settles on your hair & is just like rain....ouch...moisture on black girls hair....big problem. Nothing a curling iron & little weave cant fix.....I gotta think of what Im gonna do this year when I go on even more adventurous type trips...maybe go bald? short boy cut? forget about the primarys . vote for what alicia should do with her hair...HIGH priority. :)

Hilton Head Island South Carolina.....what can I say about that little island. The closest airport to get there has rocking chairs inside AND out. different. Hilton Head has more tennis courts per capita that anywhere else in the US. different. Pretty much every one @ the resort I stayed in seemed to be on "extended vacation" @ 1 of their MANY luxurious houses scattered throughout the US. different. But the highlights::: there are so many. The weather (in Oct) was mild, food was spectacular, skating, biking, walking trails were just divine; smooth, endless & sorounded by the lush flaura & fauna of the island. kayaking within arms reach of umpteen dolphins. Riding a bike right down onto a gorgeous beach with the sun glistening in the distance, followed by a drink (or 2) @ the bar right there on the beach....gotta love it. Horseback riding on one the most pristine & scenic horse trails ever.....I had a blast!! to say the least. I felt most alive when kayaking among dolphins. I LOVED the feeling of accomplishment of getting up & out on my skates. I LEARNED how to skate.....Best trip ever!!! Check out some pics.

Here goes

Well here goes.......
I am starting this blog to share with all who care to read about me....ME....sometimes poetic, often times misunderstood (but aren't we all in some way) . At the forefront are things I am passionate about: continually challenging myself, reading, learning, travel, particularly adventure travel. So you may notice a lot of my blogs focus on my adventures with pics & videos . So far I have loved each and every one but I am just beginning. My goal???? To see the world. Yes the ENTIRE WORLD over my lifetime & to see it in a unique, and of course, adventurous way and to share it through my eyes.
But my theme on my journeys remains the same: live, laugh, learn, and the oft forgotten one: GIVE. I do my utmost by giving & if it is innapropriate/impossible to give; for example I am in a country where all foreign items brought in are under scrutiny & certain guidelines, then I give by immersing myself in the culture & learning about it. There are so many cultures that most of us. I believe a lot division in the world occurs purely out of ignorance (Just my 2 cents). Well thats all for now. Stay tuned.....
